With the world shut down, I found myself yearning for some sort of creative outlet. One day while out on a run, I had the crazy idea of doing my own Broadway Bootcamp for kids. No one was able to have any type of summer camp due to COVID-19 and I knew parents would be more than thrilled for their kids to be able to partake in anything! After working out safety protocols, I was able to run a one-on-one Broadway Bootcamp where each child would work on a Broadway song of their choosing and we’d also add choreography, acting and instill memorization. At the end of the week, they performed their piece outside on my parent’s front porch (if that doesn’t scream Alabama for ya!). It was a wonderful experience and so successful that I had to turn kids away and even add additional weeks of camp. This camp turned into kids and teens wanting weekly voice lessons and before I knew it, I had my own little studio going on. Thanks to the city of Opelika, I was able to safely hold three different voice recitals and look forward to continue teaching and coaching young actors.
